We have an excellent opportunity for a Development Specialist of Special Events in our Austin office. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position supports all campaign activities, event budgets and logistics for all fundraising activitiesfor the Austin area, to include: Heart Ball, Heart Walk, Go Red For Women Luncheon, CycleNation, and any other supporting events, including all Austin Office Activities.
Job duties include:
All venue and vendor negotiations and agreements.
Budget management - Tracking Direct Expenses for Fiscal Year and End of Year across all events.
Collateral and communications timing and schedule - Driving overall collateral timelines and deadline management.
Sponsor activation as it relates to event logistics.
Work with event leads to achieve their overall look and feel of the events.
Work with event leads to help with all design elements of the event; this includes the creation of print and digital marketing collateral – signage, invitations, etc.
Work closely with HW Vendor on all specific walk logistics.
Volunteer committees as they relate to event logistics.
On-Site Volunteer management.
Determine the amount of volunteer support for each event and create job descriptions.
Manage all event planning companies.
Work parallel with office leadership (event leads & Executive Director.
Attend all team meetings and strategy for successful meetings when event logistics are involved.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1½ years’ experience equates to 1 full-time year of higher education.
1+ years of experience in a similar role. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
Basic Photoshop skills preferred
Knowledge of the principles and practices of meeting management.
Excellent verbal and written business communications skills.
Ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs; to work independently and take the initiative; to creatively and effectively solve problems; to meet and interact with all levels of AHA staff and volunteers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required knowledge of Greater Giving or similar donor database programs.
Ability to work evenings/weekends when necessary.
Able to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be at least 18 years old.
