The Bay Area Division of the American Heart Association has a unique opportunity for a paid internship as part of our inaugural “residency program.” If you are looking to continue developing your experience and skills in non-profit management while taking on projects that move our lifesaving mission forward, read on!
As a member of the Community Impact team, you will help bring health improvement programs to our communities and coordinate the behind-the-scenes details that create outstanding experiences. This paid internship is 15 hours per week (flexible schedule) from January through June 2020 and based in our Oakland, California office.
Coordinates the implementation of program events and provides on-site support for Bay Area health improvement campaigns including Go Red BetterU, the Youth Health Equity Council and Make Time for Health.
Creates and updates correspondence such as newsletters, weekly emails and volunteer logistics messages.
Supports volunteer engagement including creating internal and external volunteer guides.
Assists with preparing return on investment reports and stewardship efforts.
Creates and organizes system for tracking corporate wellness initiatives with corporate accounts.
Provides administrative, clerical and logistics support.
Qualified applicants are highly motivated to improve the health of our communities and have skills that include:
Highly effective verbal, written and presentation skills
Project management with high attention to detail
Ability to work and travel as needed to support community-based events and programs
Current or prior experience through an AHA internship is strongly preferred
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is helpful
